Abandoned Places

Sat Oct 10, 2009, 7:33 PM
I've been becoming more and more fascinated with urban and industrial decay lately. It's long been an interest of mine, but only now have I begun to photograph some of the places I have wondered about or even explored as long ago as my teen years. Entering such places usually comes with a certain degree of risk, both legal and health/safety related, but if proper precautions are taken, risks can be minimized, and some fantastic images can be captured.

The rich history these places hold won't last forever. Eventually, they'll either be renovated, preserved, demolished, or simply crumble on their own. When that happens to such a structure, much or all of it's history dies with it. At least, that is, from a visual standpoint. For me, that's what makes many of the risks acceptable.

As I delve further into this realm of photography, I intend to share many of the images I capture here. I'm sure you'll understand that in most cases, I will not be able to reveal the actual names or exact locations of the subjects. I can't, and won't be responsible for getting any of you deviants into trouble! ;)
Just enjoy the pics. :)

Sláinte!
